Welcome to Clarity Therapy and Counselling Centre!
My name is Sabiha Faruqui and I am the Clinical Director of Clarity Therapy and Counselling Centre. I am an Occupational Therapist practicing Psychotherapy and have over 14 years of expertise in the area of Mental Health.
I completed my Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy from McMaster University in 2009. I have worked for several hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area including Trillium Health Partners, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and Humber River Hospital.
If you are looking for an experienced therapist who will help you work through your current problems, AND teach you lasting strategies that will make you emotionally resilient throughout your life, this is the place for you. I draw from several evidence based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness, as best suited to your needs. One of my goals as a therapist is to teach you skills and strategies that will empower and equip you to manage life’s challenges on your own and eventually have no need for a therapist!
I am experienced in helping people navigate several problems including: anxiety, worry, stress, relationship problems, social anxiety, panic, depression, and emotion regulation. I work with people of all ages, however I have significant experience working with teenagers, youth, and young adults, having worked in the Transitional Aged Youth Program of a large GTA hospital.
At Clarity Therapy and Counselling Centre, the therapy space is a non-judgemental, supportive, safe space to share how you are feeling. I know that sometimes it is difficult to reach out to a therapist and there is often an internal push to manage things on your own, however it doesn't have to be that way. Just as we seek help for things in life such as our physical health, or help with our careers and education, mental health is no different. You don't need to navigate the challenges and difficult emotions of life alone. I truly believe that anyone and everyone would benefit from the support of a therapist and psychotherapy to get through difficult times as well as to build skills and abilities to maintain emotional health, well-being and resilience throughout life.
